James Wendell Morris, 77, of Oswego, Illinois, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora, Illinois. Wendell was born in Virginia on March 18, 1947
He served in the United States Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. Wendell was fiercely patriotic, had a strong faith, cherished his family, loved playing guitar and singing (especially "Thank God for Kids) with his children, and rooted passionately for his Chicago Cubs and Washington Redskins. He was quick with a joke or quip and he lived to make people laugh. He made an impression on anyone he met. His pride and joy were his twin grandchildren, Landon and Teagan. He was happiest when he was talking to them or about them and was thrilled to watch them play basketball, soccer or football.
He is survived by his two children, Merle (Anna) Morris and Tracy (Brad) Bywater, and two grandchildren, Landon Bywater and Teagan Bywater; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nellie (Flinchum) Morris; his brothers and sisters Ishmael Morris, Doug Morris, Dale Morris, Wayne Morris, Leona Morris, Lorraine Sword and Ann Jenkins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 12:00-4:00 p.m.
