Sharon Zita Life Story

Sharon Ann Zita, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, at the age of 77 in Plainfield, Illinois. Born on February 22, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, Sharon's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family, her passion for education, and her love for life's simple joys.

Sharon's journey began as the cherished daughter of her loving parents Richard and Shirley Coady in Chicago, where she attended Taft High School. Her academic pursuits led her to the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education. This foundation paved the way for what would become a lifelong commitment to nurturing young minds.

On July 17, 1971, Sharon's heart found its match when she married James W. Zita at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in River Forest, Illinois. Their love story was one of mutual respect, deep affection, and unwavering partnership. Together, they embarked on a journey that saw them move to New York for a brief period before returning to Illinois, where they established their family home.

Sharon's professional life was marked by her tenure at Phoebe Apperson Hearst Elementary School in Chicago, where she was not just a teacher but a mentor, a confidante, and a second mother to many of her students. Her colleagues and students alike will remember her for her thoughtful guidance, her ability to inspire, and her gentle, kind-hearted nature.

Family was the cornerstone of Sharon's world. She was the beloved mother of Mike Zita and Tim (Kimberly) Zita, and she embraced her role with every fiber of her being. Her love knew no bounds, and it was in her children that she found her greatest pride and joy. As a grandmother to Isabella, Ryan, Jaxon, and Bailey, Sharon's legacy of love and laughter will live on through their cherished memories of her. Sharon's warmth extended to her siblings, and she shared a special bond with her brother, Richard (Michelle) Coady.

Beyond her family and professional life, Sharon had a zest for life that was infectious. She enjoyed bowling, playing volleyball, and softball, snow skiing and golf, always bringing her great sense of humor to every game and gathering. Sharon’s love for the Chicago Bears stems from birth. Her grandfather was friends with George Halas and the family has held season tickets ever since the 1920’s. She attended every game that she could up through the 2019 season. She was beyond proud of her brother Rich, who played for the Bears in 70’s. Sharon was the type of person who could light up a room with her smile and leave a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Those who knew Sharon will remember her as the epitome of a loving, thoughtful, and kind soul. She was the type of person who was a mother to everyone, always ready to offer a listening ear, a comforting hug, or words of encouragement. Her presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her absence will be deeply felt.
