Sandra Meyers Life Story

Sandra Lee Meyers, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born on July 15, 1950, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sandra was the eldest child of Dorothy and Floyd (Al). She grew up in Minneapolis with her sister Bonnie and brother Dale, where she developed a love for family, nature, and creativity that would remain with her throughout her life.

Sandra met the love of her life, Michael Meyers, on a family vacation at a lake in Southern Minnesota. The two quickly formed a deep bond and were married in 1972. After their wedding, they began a life of adventure and family, first settling in California, where their eldest child, Jamie, was born in 1974. Eventually, the call of home brought them back to Minnesota, and then later to Schaumburg, Illinois, where they welcomed their daughter, Amanda, in 1980. Schaumburg would become the place they called home for many years.

Sandra was a devoted and loving mother, always present and involved in her children’s lives. She gave her time generously as a PTA volunteer and longtime Girl Scout leader, helping shape and support not only her children but many others in the community. Her nurturing spirit and tireless dedication left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Sandra had a deep appreciation for nature, crafts, animals, holidays, baking, and family get-togethers. She especially loved lighthouses, drawn to their quiet strength and beauty—symbols that now feel all the more poignant as we remember her enduring presence in our lives. A talented crafter, Sandra also worked for many years as an elementary school crossing guard. Each holiday season, she would handcraft special Christmas gifts for every child who crossed her path, spreading cheer and warmth in the way only she could.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael, who passed in 2020. Though their time together was cut short, their love and life journey continue to inspire those who knew them.

Sandra is survived by her children, Jamie (Sally) and Amanda (Jeff); her five cherished grandchildren—Madison, Nathan, Jack, Levi, and Tyler; her sister Bonnie and brother Dale (Steph); her sister-in-law; countless nieces and nephews; and many dear friends and extended family.

She will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle spirit, and her unwavering commitment to her family and community. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to shine—like the lighthouses she so dearly loved—guiding those she held close
