It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of Ronald Frederick Betz, age 89, of Montgomery on April 10, 2026. Ron was born on December 16, 1936, in St. Charles, IL, to the late Frederick S. Betz and Helen C. Betz. He attended East Aurora High School and Waubonsee Community College. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic. He received a Good Conduct Medal in January 1959. He was honorably discharged from his last duty assignment, 54th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron (ADC) in 1959.
Ron worked at Caterpillar as a Manufacturing Engineer, retiring at age 55. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an active member of the Fox Valley Corvette Club showcasing his corvettes in many car shows & parades. He also had a passion for model railroading and spent numerous hours working on and enjoying his personal layout. Ron was well known for his humor and kindness – he brought joy to everyone he met. He was always happiest when spending time with his family and friends.
Ron is survived by his daughter, Teri (Doug) Swift, and son, Ronnie Betz.
