Randall VanEtten Life Story

Randall Z. VanEtten, a cherished pillar of the Aurora community, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, at the age of 68, in the same city where he was born. Born on June 10, 1957, to the late Robert VanEtten and Edyth Augusta Roach, Randall's life was one marked by devotion to his family, his music, and his community.

A proud graduate of Oswego High School in 1975, Randall's early years in Oswego laid the foundation for a life filled with love, kindness, and service. He carried these values into his own family life as a loving husband to Laura and a dedicated father to Lynette, Rudy, and Emmelia. His joy multiplied as he became a doting grandfather to Rayna, whose presence brought him immeasurable happiness.

Randall's passion for music was evident to all who knew him. A lifelong piano player, he generously volunteered countless hours playing for patients and staff at Mercy Hospital, bringing comfort and joy through his melodies. His commitment to his community extended beyond music as he served as an election judge in Kane County for over two decades, ensuring the democratic process was upheld with integrity.

Model trains were another of Randall's joys, and he spent many hours creating and perfecting a large diorama in his basement—a testament to his patience and attention to detail. His love for the outdoors and adventure was shared with his children through numerous road trips, swimming, and hiking excursions to Starved Rock, creating lasting memories and instilling in them a love for nature. He was an avid coin collector and treasured family game night and spending time with his friends.

Randall's kind and loving nature was not only felt by his family but also by his siblings, Cynthia (Terry) Czernysz, Janet VanEtten, Ronald (Kathy) VanEtten, Roger (Dawn) VanEtten, and the late Martin VanEtten. His warmth extended to his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.
