Michael F Luers

Michael F. Luers, born on July 10, 1973, in Winfield, Illinois, passed away on August 1, 2026, Although Cancer may have taken him from us, that is not his story. He will be remembered with deep affection by all who knew him as a loving, generous, and thoughtful man whose presence brought warmth, steadiness, and kindness to his family and friends.

Michael lived a life marked by devotion to the people he loved and by the quiet strength of his character. He carried himself with sincerity and care, and he had a way of making others feel valued and understood. Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or his steady support, he touched lives in ways that will be remembered for years to come. His family and friends will forever cherish the many memories they shared with him and the example he set through his compassion and integrity. For years Michael operated a D.J. Business on the side, and he used that ability and passion to connect us all through his love of music as a Dj for numerous family gatherings. His love of fishing and camping were some of his greatest life’s pleasures. The ability to camp up until the very end provided  him  great peace and relaxation.  

He is survived by his wife, Megan, and his sons, Thomas and Ryan Luers, who were the center of his world and the source of his greatest pride. He is also survived by his mother, Donna Luers; his sisters, Tina Watkins and her husband Timothy, Katharina Pelkey and her husband Chris, and Suzanne Staiton and her husband Robert; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bud and Heide Craig; his brother-in-law, Colin Craig and his wife Tara; and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry forward their memories of his love and encouragement. His family was a source of strength and joy to him, and he in turn gave them unwavering devotion and care.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Ferdinand Luers; his brother-in-law, Michael Cochran; and his niece, Bethani Werner. Their memories remained close to his heart, and he honored those bonds through the love he shared with those around him. The family takes comfort in knowing that he is reunited with those who went before him.

Those who knew Michael will remember his generous spirit and his thoughtful nature. He approached life with humility and a genuine concern for others, and he had a special gift for offering comfort and encouragement when it was needed most. His kindness was not loud or showy, but steady and sincere, and it left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He valued family above all else and found meaning in the simple, important moments of life spent with those he loved.
