Mariann Saviano Life Story

Mariann Saviano, a cherished pillar of her community and a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024, in Aurora, Illinois. Born on November 3, 1930, in Chicago Heights, Illinois to Dominic and Josephine (nee Di Michele) Frattura,  Mariann's life was a testament to the power of education, the joy of family, and the beauty of simple pleasures.

A proud graduate of Bloom High School in 1948, Mariann continued her education at Eastern Illinois University, where she earned her degree in 1952. Her passion for learning and her dedication to nurturing young minds led her to a rewarding career in teaching. Mariann's commitment to education was evident to all who knew her during her tenure at Crete-Monee High School, from which she retired in 1988. Her influence on her students extended far beyond the classroom, as she instilled in them the values of hard work, integrity, and the importance of lifelong learning.

Mariann's life was filled with love, not just for her profession, but for her family as well. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Saviano for 57 years until his passing on August 16, 2014. They married in 1957 and settled in Crete. Together, they built a life rich in shared experiences and mutual respect. Mariann was the loving mother of Laurie (Brian) Mackie, Ronald Saviano, and Michael (Jennifer) Saviano. Her role as a mother was one she cherished deeply, providing her children with unwavering support, wisdom, and kindness.

The joys of motherhood were magnified for Mariann as she became an adored grandmother to Eric (Maggie) Mackie, Brian (Rebecca) Mackie, Marianne Tidwell, Joseph (Jessica) Mackie, Sophia, and Isabella Saviano. Her love knew no bounds, and it continued to grow as she became a great-grandmother to Matthew, William, Aryanna, Max, Lexi, Cooper,  Benjamin, and Molly. Mariann's legacy of love and her lessons of life will live on through the generations she so tenderly nurtured.

When school was not in session, Mariann enjoyed crocheting, traveling with her husband to sunny destinations such as Florida, and they enjoyed going to the opera together.

As we bid farewell to Mariann Saviano, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit, characterized by warmth and selflessness, will remain a guiding light for her family, her friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her years as an educator and community member.
