Margaret Jo (Craig) Gengler, age 83, of Yorkville, IL, passed away peacefully at the family farm on November 3, 2024. She was born on December 18, 1940 to Orville and Avonell (Allison) Craig in Springfield, IL. She spent most of her childhood in Aurora, IL and graduated from East Aurora High School.
On March 10, 1973, she married Stanley Gengler, fulfilling her lifelong dream of living and working on a farm. She enjoyed tending her flower gardens and growing plants of all kinds. She was especially fond of dogs and had an extensive knowledge of different breeds and their traits. She spent many happy hours creating crafts and reading. For many years, she served as a Sunday School teacher and loved the children as if they were her own.
Margaret is survived by her children, Kelly (John) Hougas, Paige (Derek) Johnson, Ashley (Ryan) Cook; her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Piltz; stepchildren, Steven (Linda) Gengler, Charles (Lakshmi) Gengler, Susan Bohan; her many grandchildren; and her brother Orville “Bud” (Heide) Craig. She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; her sister Phyllis Lloyd; and her son Tod Piltz.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to Kendall County Food Pantry or your local animal shelter.
