Lance Ely Obituary

Lance Benjamin Ely passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 2, 2023. He was born in Fort Dix, New Jersey on May 8, 1959, to Harvey and Insoon Ely.

Lance grew up an "Army Brat" and moved several times following his father's career in the Army. He graduated from Arundel High School and attended Towson State University. He met Julie Weith, and they were married in 2002. They were blessed with the birth of their children, Nathan and Nicole.

Lance had a lifetime career in  Food Service working with companies such as Arbys, CiCi's Pizza, Levy Restaurants, Greencore and most recently with Taylor Farms Inc.

Lance was an enthusiastic fan of  music from the 70's. He could always be found listening to that soulful jazz sound of his favorite band Earth, Wind and Fire, or the funkadelic sounds of Parliament.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing golf. He had a great passion for spending time in the kitchen, but  always left out an ingredient if someone asked for the recipe. If it wasn't Food Network on the t.v., he loved to watch the western series the Rifleman and classic movies that he would watch repeatedly, The Karate Kid, Rocky, and The Godfather, especially part 2. He was an avid Baltimore Ravens fan relishing the Superbowl wins of 2001 and most recently in 2013.

Lance left us too soon, and leaves behind his children Nathan and Nicole, their mom, his former wife, Julie. He is also survived by his siblings Alan, Linda, Jeri, and Jackie; his mother and father-in-law John & Noralyn Weith; brother-in-law Carl and sister-in-law Wendy.  He was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Insoon.
