Judith G. "Judy" Crimmin, a cherished soul known for her spirited nature and loving heart, passed away on October 10, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois, leaving behind a legacy of joy, music, and compassionate care for both people and animals. Born on June 9, 1949, in Henderson, Kentucky, Judy's early years were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family, including her late parents Fred Paff Sr. and Doris Paff.
Judy's journey through life was marked by her thoughtful approach to every endeavor. A proud graduate of Henderson High School in 1967, she continued her education at Henderson Community College before heading to Southern Illinois University, where she earned her degree in Dental Hygiene in 1970. It was at S.I.U. that Judy's path took a fateful turn when she stood up a blind date to meet William 'Bill' Crimmin. She knew from that night that she would spend the rest of her life with him, a promise fulfilled until Bill's passing in 2002.
Her professional life was a testament to her dedication to helping others. Judy worked as a dental hygienist at Boulder Hill Dental for Drs. Kontos and Tierney, and then Diana Brawka, where her gentle touch and warm demeanor comforted countless patients. After retiring from dental hygiene, she took on the role of office manager for Speech Therapist Helen Chatman at Chat's Speech Therapy & More in Oswego, applying her organizational skills and empathetic nature to ensure the smooth operation of the practice.
Judy's passion for life extended well beyond her professional commitments. She was a long-time member of the steel drum band "Steel Crazy," where her musical talents brought joy to many. Her adventures with Bill were filled with love and laughter, especially on their fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada. Even after his passing, Judy continued to explore the world, traveling with friends to the Caribbean and Florida, embracing new experiences with her characteristic zest for life.
A devoted animal lover, Judy found great companionship in her cats and lived by the words of Mahatma Gandhi, "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way in which its animals are treated." She embodied this philosophy daily, treating all creatures with kindness and respect.
Judy's love for Bill was evident in the way she helped him restore a car during his illness, a project that brought them closer and allowed them to create lasting memories. Her love story with Bill was one for the ages, marked by devotion and an unbreakable bond.
She leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly: her brother Richard 'Rick' (Laura) Paff, sister Ginny Beasley, nieces and nephews Fred Paff, P.J. Paff, Sarah Beth Byun, Jacob Paff, Nathanael Beasley, Aaron Beasley, John Crimmin, and Kara Crimmin, as well as her brother-in-law Don (Debi) Crimmin, and Gayle Paff. Judy also leaves behind several great-nieces and nephews who will cherish the memories of their thoughtful, spirited, and loving aunt. She was predeceased by her parents, and her brothers Fred and Robert Paff.
Judith G. Crimmin's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, care, and the joy of music. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her memory will be a guiding light for her family and friends. Judy's life was a journey of love, laughter, and the pursuit of happiness, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her
