Jimmie Pace Obituary

James Floyd Pace (August 30,1930 - December 12, 2023)

Affectionately known as “Jimmie” passed peacefully of natural causes. He loved his family, lived a full life and always had great fun doing so.

He was an Army veteran and served our country proudly as a Staff Sergeant and Non- Commissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC) of Rail Traffic in South Korea from 1952 - 1954.

He also enjoyed a long and successful career as the top salesman of Ticket and Travel Plans for the Travelers Insurance Company - Midwest Region. After his retirement in 1986, he and his wife Mary enjoyed traveling to various destinations and visiting their families and friends. Always making new friends along the way.

He and his wife Mary also moved to Arizona to be near his brother and enjoyed 15 years there before he moved back home to IL to be near his daughters and grandchildren whom he adored. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s various activities and became their biggest fan and supporter. He was also a huge fan of the NIU Huskies football team and attended many games and when he could no longer attend in person he listened to the game on the radio and shared stories with a special family friend and old neighbor Don Miller. He touched many lives positively with his caring glance, an encouraging word and always a smile. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary, his son James Pace of California, daughters (his angels as he referred to them) Marsha (Jeff) Barnes of Cortland, IL and Rhonda (Mike) Suddeth of Dekalb, IL. Additionally, six (6) Grandchildren, James Pace and Jennifer Pace both of Virginia; Mikayla O’Donnell of Sycamore, IL, Cody O’Donnell of Cortland, IL; Scott Suddeth of Dekalb, IL and Lexi Suddeth of Dekalb, IL and four (4) Great Grandchildren, Shania, James, Phoenix all of Virginia and Zion of Sycamore, IL. and two loving sisters Nancy Jean Roberts of California and Norma Duncan of Missouri and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was proceeded in death by his parents James G Pace and Rosa Mae Wyome, his sister Rosie Simpson, brother Roy Pace and grandson Brian Suddeth.

Heartfelt appreciation for the loving care and kindness, extended to our dear father/grandfather by Serenity hospice and Liberty Village.

A private burial will be set for the summer.  We ask that any cards be sent to Mary Pace, c/o Liberty Village, 2203 E. Flagg Rd., Rm 301, Rochelle, IL 61068.

And as he always ended every conversation, “Bye for now”.
