Edward Kunz

Edward Kunz, beloved husband, father and friend, passed away unexpectedly on
April 23rd 2024 at the age of 60 while vacationing with his family in Mexico.
Edward was born in Chicago, Illinois to Edward and Marlene Kunz. He was the
eldest of his siblings, which include his sister Theresa Pietrusiak and his brother Nick Kunz. He graduated
from Addison Trail High School and furthered his education by earning his Associates Degree in
Criminal Justice. Ed pursued his career at Dupage County Sheriff's Office where he
flourished in many departments. Here is where he met his wife, Denise, and embarked on a
new chapter of life. He and Denise went on to have two children, Amanda and Matthew.
Including Eddie, Ed’s son from a previous marriage, the five began their life together as a
family. Ed retired in 2013 as a Lieutenant from Dupage County Sheriff's Department when
he and his family moved to Las Vegas. Ed was a busy body, and unable to sit still;
therefore, he started a new career as a bailiff at Clark County Municipal Court. Ed finally
made the decision to officially retire in 2022.

Ed spent everyday surrounded by family and friends. He loved traveling with his
wife, going boating with the family and watching his favorite sports teams. Ed loved
spending time with his granddaughter, Maelynn. The two of them had a special bond that
was clear for all to see. Ed was an active man, you could always find him working on
various projects in and out of the house. He loved caring for his horses and chickens. Ed
was beloved by everyone he touched. He always had a smile on his face and wanted to
make people laugh. He was a kind and generous man, willing to do anything for the people
that he loved. He will be forever missed by those who knew him and his memory will live on
within his family and friends.

Ed is survived by his wife, Denise Kunz; his three children, Edward Kunz and wife
Jasmine Kunz, Amanda Kunz and fiancé Dylan Litviak, and Matthew Kunz; his
granddaughter, Maelynn Kunz; his father, Edward Kunz and wife Karen Kunz; and siblings,
Theresa Pietrusiak and husband Mike Pietrusiak, and Nick Kunz. Preceding Ed in death
was his mother, Marlene Kunz.

Edward’s memorial service will be held on May 11th at Bauman Family Funeral
Home, 5600 US Route 34, Oswego IL 60543 at 12pm-3pm. Celebration of life to follow at
the American Legion, 9054 E Veterans Pkwy, Yorkville IL 60560, at 3pm. There will be a
memorial service on May 19th at Queensridge 9101 Alta Dr. Unit 18 Las Vegas, NV 89145
at 1pm-5pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association in Ed’s
name.
