Dennis Michael
"Mike" Joray
d. Oct 19, 2026
The Villages, Florida
Dennis Michael "Mike" Joray of The Villages, Florida, passed away on October 19, 2026. Mike was born on March 20, 1940, in Aurora, Illinois, son of Otis and Margaret (Smith) Joray. He married Judith Johnson in 1969. He is survived by his son Dennis (Rebecca) Joray, Lindenhurst, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, his parents, sister Catherine, and brother Francis. Mike was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea from 1963 – 1965. He earned his GED while in the Army, and for the rest of his life remained grateful for the opportunities he received, the discipline he obtained, and the even deeper appreciation he had for his country following his deployment. For 17 years Mike owned a janitorial business before working in maintenance for the United States Postal Service for 16 years. Mike owned several 1957 Chevys during his life. He loved working on his car and attending car shows not only to share the work he had done, but to talk to all the other car enthusiasts. Mike also enjoyed collecting 1957 Chevy and USPS memorabilia, golfing, and working in his yard. Mike was a longtime attendee of Central Bible Church and First Baptist Church of Geneva in Illinois and Fairway Christian Church in Florida. Mike will be remembered for his positive attitude and "mind over matter" perspective, his willingness to be of service to others, work ethic, and love of family/friends. Special thanks to the neighbors in The Villages for their wonderful care and support of Mike, his home health aide, and to Cornerstone Hospice. A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, 11/7/2026, at Bauman Family Funeral Home in Oswego, Illinois, with a visitation for two hours prior. A private interment will take place at a later date. Memorials can be made to Camp Barakel, Attn: Accounting, PO Box 159, Fairview, MI 48621.
